Transferability of Skills Analysis (TSA)
For those individuals who have difficulty returning to their
job following an injury or illness, this type of analysis will
help to identify similar or related jobs that are consistent or
equal to the functional skill levels of that individual.
Transferability analysis is a generalized process of identifying
traits and skills (as demonstrated in previous jobs) that can be
"matched" to similar trait and skill requirements in other, but
similar jobs.
The TSA identifies specific intact transferable work skills
(or acquired practical skills). From relevant historical
information (ie resumes, transcripts, etc.) and other
information pertaining to the client’s physical/cognitive
abilities, provided by the referral source, information about
the educational, employment, physical, social and/or
psychological status of an individual is synthesized to develop
a Worker Qualification Profile (WQP). Conclusions can be then be
drawn with respect to the level of match between the abilities
of an individual and the demands of various occupations.
A Transferability of Skills Analysis also provides an
appropriate intervention for the non-disabled working in
organizations in the process of restructuring.
